Picnic in the Park

Boston is such an amazing place to be on Memorial Day Weekend. We didn’t need dinner reservations, we were able to find parking no matter what part of town we were in and the weather was phenomenal. It was as if the entire city cleared out and headed to the Cape. It was absolutely perfect…

On Saturday I planned a picnic in a park. I woke up on Saturday morning and made shrimp salad along with a tomato and feta salad and also packed up a lemon cake that I had made the night before. Then Brian, Bennett, Chewbacca and I headed out to eat our lunch Al Fresco.

Brian and I were astonished by how the look of our neighborhood had changed in just a few short weeks. Walking around the lush landscaping and blossomed flowers felt like a dream. It reminded me how worthwhile it is to bear the New England winters in exchange for these incredible New England summers.

Bennett seemed like he was having the greatest time! He loved being able to roll freely around the blanket and play with Chewbacca. And he is so close to being able to crawl. Right now he’s at the point where he loves spinning around on his tummy like a baby weather vane.

I’m so obsessed with Bennett’s new sunglasses. They look like little Wayfarers, and I feel like we’re twinning when I wear my Ray Bans.

As I’ve mentioned before (like in this post ), I love Old Navy’s summer dresses and I thought this dress would be perfect for our picnic. It is so light and airy, and I love the whimsical floral print. Plus you can’t beat the price point (it’s under $30)! I scored my sandals from Old Navy as well. They look much more expensive than they are, and my feet stayed comfortable walking around Brookline all day!

I traded in my diaper bag for this straw bag for the day. I picked it up at Target knowing it would be great for future summer beach trips! I was easily able to fit our blanket and all our baby necessities in it. I also found our picnic blanket at Target. It was the perfect size and material for our picnic, and I love the pattern so much I’m also using it as a decorative throw in our living room.
