In the spirit of Father’s Day, I decided to put aside the rosé, edible flowers and sparkling wines and let my husband choose the cocktail this week. He opted for a Manhattan, one of his all time favorite drinks..
I’m not the biggest fan of traditional Manhattans, but I do enjoy them if a dry vermouth is used instead of a sweet vermouth.
I also can’t stand Maraschino cherries so I prefer to garnish a Manhattan with just an orange peel.
Dry Manhattan
Ingredients (makes one cocktail)
3 oz rye whiskey (we like Bulleit)
1 oz dry vermouth
3 dashes angostura bitters
ice
orange peel for garnish
Instructions
1. Chill your martini glass and mixing glass for 20 minutes (I dampen a paper towel and wipe the glasses before placing them in the freezer)
2. Pour whiskey, vermouth and bitters into mixing glass. Fill with ice and stir for approximately 20 seconds.
3. Strain into martini glass. Rub orange peel along rim and use as garnish.
Have you guys ever ordered alcohol through Drizly?! I didn’t know the company existed until a few weeks ago and I’m obsessed! You can order beer, wine or liquor online and have it delivered to you within an hour (if you’re of legal drinking age of course)! It’s pretty fantastic since I hate lugging Bennett in the Baby Björn while shopping for alcohol.
You can check them out HERE to see if they deliver in your area and save $5 on your first order using the code DRIZLYDEAL!!
Hope you guys enjoy!
