Now that the weather is so nice, we make it our goal to spend either Saturday or Sunday exploring a new part of the city. This Saturday was one of those days when nothing went according to plan, but it turned out to be an amazing day for our family!..
We had made plans to go to Boston Common, see the sites and learn about the history of the park. The Common is actually the oldest city park in the US, dating back to 1634. It was a camp site for British soldiers during the Revolutionary War and from which they left to fight in the Battle of Lexington & Concord. The forecast called for rain late in the afternoon, but as soon as we arrived downtown, the sky erupted and it started pouring. We had plans to eat lunch at a Back Bay restaurant with a great patio area, but we needed to call an audible since we had Bennett in tow. We ended up eating at Legal Seafoods (founded in Boston) since it was connected to our parking deck, and it did not disappoint! We ordered Cherry Stones on the half shell and chowder, and it was all delicious! If you’ve never had raw Cherry Stone clams (and you like raw shellfish of course), run and get yourself a dozen right now!
Fortunately, after lunch we caught a break in the rain, which allowed us to walk around the park.
I chose to wear another easy Old Navy sundress (I hope you guys aren’t sick of them) for our Saturday trip to The Common. As you can tell from this post and this post I’m a pretty big fan of Old Navy dresses. They are just so effortless and you can’t beat the price point. I particularly love this dress because it is so breathable and flowy and has the cutest blue petite flower print.
I paired it with my Gap straw hat (also seen HERE) and white Old Navy sandals (also seen HERE). I chose to brighten up the outfit with a bright red-orange bag and lip.
Despite the cloudy rainy day, our Saturday once again reminded me of what a truly beautiful city we reside in. Boston Common is so rich in history with beautiful statues and incredible architecture. Unfortunately, the happiness of a great Saturday dissipated upon hearing Sunday’s news of such terrible tragedy. Although I don’t have the right words to articulate my sadness for the Orlando tragedy, I remain confident that love will overcome hate.
