There were a couple of things that I could not wait to do when I became a mother. One was take my baby to see Santa (which I did when Bennett was 2 weeks old after sheepishly asking Santa to spray his gloves with my antiseptic). The other was to take my baby to the zoo. So on Saturday we took Bennett on his first trip to the Franklin Park Zoo…
Franklin Park Zoo is such a wonderful place to take your kids. It is deceivingly big, and we didn’t make it through everything in one day. Bennett decided he had enough right when we were on our way to the flamingo ponds. Dang it. I’ll get my revenge later and take him out of a puppet show early or something like that. Obviously kidding 🙂
Although we didn’t let Bennett pet the billy goats, he was still entertained.
I was pretty much in Old Navy head to toe for our zoo trip. I bought these gingham shorts a few weeks ago and love them so much! I’m so happy gingham has sort of resurged in women’s fashion the last couple of years. It’s a pattern I’ve always been really drawn towards. I wore my shorts with a light and airy white tunic which every woman should have in her spring/summer arsenal. It’s made of a very lightweight cotton gauze material, and I was very comfortable in the 85 degree heat. I love having a few white tunics in my summer wardrobe to throw over swimsuits while at the beach or pool.
I also constantly have these sandals on my feet (also seen HERE and HERE). They’re so comfortable, and I think they have a great shape (I find some double strap sandals can look a little frumpy). They only come in whole sizes; so if you’re a half size, size up.
Giraffes are just the coolest, aren’t they? I swear this one came up and posed for us.
And I forgot what this little guy with the crazy Doc Brown hair was called, but he was easily the family favorite.
I also want to mention that we ate at El Oriental De Cuba in Jamaica Plain on our way to the zoo. It was so amazing! I haven’t had authentic Cuban food that good since leaving Miami. Brian and I split the pork tamales appetizer and had the traditional Cuban sandwich. You guys.. INCREDIBLE. If you are ever in the Boston area you have to go!
EVERYTHING at Old Navy is 40% off (no exclusions and no code needed) through 6/28; so it’s a great time to rack up a few more items you may need in your summer wardrobe. This palm dress from this post and this blue and white floral dress from this post have been restocked in all sizes! You can shop the look from this post below:
