Blueberry Fields Forever

Blueberry season runs July – August in New England and although my family and I were a little late to the party this year, the blueberries were plentiful, and we left the farm with smiling faces and full buckets.

We went to Tougas Family Farm in Northborough (approximately 45 minutes outside of Boston), and Brian and I were blown away by the beauty of the farm and all the other family-fun activities that are offered outside of picking fruit.

We started our afternoon in the blueberry fields because I was determined to come home with a large haul since I had a few dessert and cocktail recipes in my head (get ready for some blueberry themed posts coming your way)! Bennett and I were splitting blueberries right off the bush! He loved them so much he started to cry if his blueberry craving wasn’t satisfied every ten minutes or so. After blueberry picking, we went to pet the baby goats and other adorable animals they had in the barnyard. They also have an incredibly fun playground; so we hit the swings before heading to their Kitchen, where we couldn’t leave without getting ourselves some lemonade and apple cider donuts.

We will definitely be heading back for apple picking (late August – late October) and pumpkin season (mid September – late October)! Tougas Family Farms is an absolute must-do for kids if you’re in the area!

My Maxi Skirt is from Banana Republic and I can’t begin to tell you guys how happy I am that I purchased it. At 5’3″, I normally don’t have much luck with maxi skirts. They’re usually way too long, and I’m way too cheap and lazy to get one altered. My philosophy is if it’s meant to be, it will fit when I try it on. Well this one was definitely meant to be. The length is perfect for wearing flats (which is what I prefer to wear with maxi skirts). Its neutral colors allow you to pair it with almost any colored top, but for the farm I kept it all neutral with a white bell-sleeved top. I think it will look really cute with a denim jacket in the Fall.
