Labor Day Weekend is oh so bittersweet. On one hand we’re waving farewell to beach weather, barbecues and fruity daiquiris, but on the other hand we’re saying hello to Fall. Fall is my absolute favorite season. I love slipping back into my equestrian boots, I love pumpkin flavored anything and I love the color in the trees. I think New England is beautiful any time of year, but it wears Fall exceptionally well.
Labor Day Weekend is particularly important in our household for one major reason. It marks the beginning of NCAA Football Season. Both Brian and I are pretty passionate about college football so you can imagine how spirited this opening weekend will be since UGA (my alma mater) is playing UNC (his alma mater).
If you’ve ever been to an SEC football game you know it’s an all-day affair. Tailgating usually begins bright and early and of course includes day drinking. In my 20’s that was just fine, but in my 30’s (and as a mommy) that methodology just doesn’t work for me anymore. So this week’s cocktail recipe is actually a Beertail that lightens up a beer and makes it a little easier to casually sip during a long day of football.
The Bul is actually a drink from Cuba. It couldn’t be simpler to make, and it is ridiculously refreshing. I love the spice of the ginger beer combined with the citrus of the lime juice!
I’d love to hear what you think about this drink! My husband is a pretty die-hard hoppy beer drinker, but he really enjoyed this “beertail”. I hope you guys enjoy it as well!
The Bul (recipe makes 4 cocktails)
Ingredients
2 (12 oz) Pilsner Beers
2 (12 oz) Ginger Beers
5 oz Fresh Lime juice (approximately 5 limes)
Lime wedges for garnish
Instructions
Add Pilsner, Ginger Beer and Lime Juice to pitcher and stir. Pour in glasses filled with ice. Garnish with lime wedge.
And that’s it! I hope all of you have a safe and fun Labor Day Weekend! Go Dawgs!!
