A Classic Winnie-the-Pooh 1st Birthday for Bennett

We celebrated Bennett’s First Birthday this past weekend, and it truly was one of the best days of my life. I loved that the whole day was dedicated to celebrating my little boy alongside family and friends. He was just so happy that day, and my baby’s radiant, smeared-with-cake smile will be in my memory forever.

The theme we chose was Classic Winnie-the-Pooh! Brian is a huge Winnie-the-Pooh fan (the A.A. Milne Pooh before Disney), so I thought it would be special to carry that connection to Bennett’s party. Brian reads Bennett a Winnie-the-Pooh story almost every night before bedtime, so the theme had a lot of meaning to us.

We had most of the decor I used on the main party table- the stuffed Pooh, picnic basket and Winnie-the-Pooh books. It made decorating for the party a cinch.

I thought a cute touch would be to create a menu that consisted only of fare that contained honey! The main menu item was actually a honey baked ham from HoneyBaked Ham, so I only made the sides. When throwing a party I find it easiest to make half the items and order the other half.

The party favors were Mini Jars of Honey. I used twine to attach a Mini Honey Dipper to each jar. The kids at the party received bags of candy I put together at Indulge in Newton Highlands! (If you haven’t been to that candy shop, you have to check it out! It is magical!)

We changed Bennett out of his party outfit into only a pair of overalls for his Cake Smash. And after singing Happy Birthday we just let him go to town on his cake. To say he loved cake would be an understatement.

I couldn’t be happier with the way Bennett’s First Birthday Party turned out! It was such a beautiful day, and it meant so much that family traveled to celebrate with us! I’m listing all the details of the party below! I hope you all have an amazing day!
