During a New England winter it’s pretty easy to fall into a workout slump. At least that was the case for me. Between caring for Bennett and Brian’s extended, unpredictable work schedule, I found it really difficult to maintain an exercise routine. It was difficult to find value in joining a gym I would rarely be able to use and I’m sorry if it sounds wimpy, but jogging in 30 degree temperatures combined with Boston’s 20 mph wind gusts is just not my idea of a great time. But now that it’s spring, aligning with its symbolism for rebirth and renewal, I’m lacing up my sneakers and getting back on the proverbial track.
Because when it’s spring, Boston basically begs you to come outside. The city has so many beautiful, scenic places to get in a workout that don’t cost you a penny. I have no more excuses. This is not about getting bikini-ready. When I work out regularly I feel emotionally brightened and I’m a better person to those around me. And, although this may not be the case for everyone, when I feel good internally I know I can be a better wife to my husband and mother to my son.
My energy is peaked in the early morning. Brian jokes that I Roadrunner out of bed every day as if Wile E. Coyote was chasing me. So while a morning workout would be absolutely ideal to start my day, my family’s schedule just doesn’t allow it right now. So, when I run it’s in the afternoons (which is unfortunately also when this toddler-chasing, not-as-young-as-I-used-to-be mama tends to run out of gas). So I’m going to let you in on my little secret of how I find a second wind amidst my mid-afternoon rut, and it’s as simple as water.
3 Water is more than just 2 hydrogens and an oxygen, the fluid comprising pretty much all living organisms.. Forget it, I’m a nerd… It is more than just water. It’s actually quite genius. 3 Water is a naturally sourced spring water enhanced with electrolytes, a high pH and 50 mg of all-natural caffeine. And what does 50 mg of caffeine look like? For perspective, the average cup of coffee has about 100 mg. So instead of downing an afternoon cup of coffee which ends up keeping me up at night and feels amazing in my tummy during a run (kidding), I can get a preferred, smaller amount of caffeine, giving me just enough of a boost to hit the paths while becoming hydrated, replenishing those vital electrolytes that I lose while “misting” and helping my body maintain a healthy pH balance.
The coolest thing about 3 Water is that the company is owned by some of my extended family so it is made by people I know, love and trust. I’ve been fortunate enough to be aware of 3 Water for a few years and see this vision for a lower, healthier caffeine source and alternative to high-sugar caffeine drinks come to life.
I hope you all have an amazing day and are able to get out there and do something that makes YOU a healthier YOU and FEEL GOOD! Thank you so much for stopping by!
