The Fourth of July Holiday is a time for relaxation and celebration with friends and family. It’s a time for picnics, bonfires and summer cocktails. Whether you’re hosting the party or contributing an appetizer as a guest, a Fourth of July Cheese Board is as much of a crowd pleaser as it is pretty. There’s always a little something for everyone!
Of course if you’re composing a Fourth of July Cheese Board, you have to start with cheese sourced from right here in the USA! On the board shown I used a goat milk brie from Wisconsin and a blue cheese from California. Buuuttt.. the Wensleydale with blueberries was too pretty and appetizing to pass up, so we’ll just say this “British” cheese “invaded” my board and give it some historical significance.
I added some strawberry preserves along with breadsticks and black pepper water crackers. Then I filled in the gaps with our favorite red and blue fruit, including strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. To add a fun touch I used a cookie cutter to create little watermelon stars. Finally came some pepperoni and green California olives.
A cheese board is the perfect Fourth of July appetizer since it can withstand a little outdoor heat, and it looks gorgeous on your summer table! I am a huge fan of them since there is a variety of different components to sample ranging from savory to sweet. It’s an appetizer that looks sophisticated, but it is quick and easy to put together! Just don’t forget the wine!
