Frosé- the adult slushy that pretty much became the “it-drink” of the summer. Not like it was hard to get there with its delightful icy texture and adorable pink hue. This trendy frozen cocktail makes me so incredibly happy because I love rosé and what better way to enjoy my favorite summer wine than frozen and combined with harmonizing fresh fruit flavors.
Since I’m usually way behind on anything cool or trendy I only had my first frosé a few weeks ago. Since then I started experimenting in order to come up with the best combination of ingredients to complement the frozen wine.
When making frosé it’s important to use a fuller-bodied rosé since it will lose some of its flavor and color after freezing. You will love the taste of the rosé wine with added sweetness from the strawberries and zesty citrus of the lime! I hope you have the best time blending up this delicious summery cocktail (I know your guests will)!
I mean.. How great does this look?!! YES WAY FROSÉ!!
Strawberry Lime Frosé (recipe makes 3-4 servings)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
8 oz fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
Bottle of fruity rosé (I used this one)
Juice of 1 lime
Basil or Mint for garnish
Instructions:
1. Pour rosé into empty ice cube tray and freeze until solid.
2. Make strawberry syrup by mixing sugar and water in small saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Add strawberries then turn off heat and allow to cool to room temperature. Strain to remove strawberries. Unused syrup can be stored in airtight container in refrigerator up to 1 month.*
3. Add strawberry syrup, lime juice and rosé cubes to blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh herb of choice.
*Tip: Don’t throw away sweetened strawberries! They are great over waffles or pancakes!
