Bennett and I love enjoying our morning smoothies together on the days I’m off work. I like to have fun experimenting with new recipes and my sweet little boy always seems to love them and slurps down all of the different combinations I create for him. He is such a picky eater right now and it is a great and easy way to sneak in some nutritious fruits and veggies into his diet. My favorite go-to morning smoothie this fall has been this “Pumpkin Pie Smoothie”. I put in in quotes because it definitely doesn’t taste as decadent as a real pumpkin pie but the addition of the fall spices and sweet puréed pumpkin makes it a tasty lighter morning treat.
This smoothie combines pure pumpkin purée (I use an organic brand from my grocery store), vanilla greek yogurt, banana, a little agave, almond milk and an array of fall spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. I generally leave the whipped cream off mine but do occasionally add a little unsweetened whipped cream in Bennett’s since he loves it so much.
You will love sipping this sweet morning smoothie while getting the healthy benefits of pumpkin which is packed with vitamins and minerals and low in calories. I hope you all love it!
Nutritious Pumpkin Pie Smoothie (recipe makes 1 large smoothie)
Ingredients-
1/2 cup pure pumpkin purée (make sure you’re not buying pumpkin pie filling since it contains a lot of added sugar)
6 oz vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 frozen banana (I keep multiple peeled bananas in my freezer at all times to use in smoothies)
1 tsp agave (you can substitute honey if you prefer)
Pinch of ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, ground ginger and ground cloves
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (of course you can substitute dairy milk if you prefer or if there is a nut allergy)
Instructions-
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. I make all my smoothies in a NutriBullet Pro 900 Series and love it! Top with whipped cream and some more ground cinnamon if desired. Enjoy the taste of fall!
