Memorial Day Weekend Packing List

We are less than two weeks away from Memorial Day Weekend, also known as the kick-off of the Summer Season. And for Brian, Bennett Austyn and me, that means ferrying across the Long Island Sound to join our family for the long weekend in Southampton, NY. Although the water is still cold, and a comfortable air temperature can be hit or miss so early in the season, it is still a spectacularly fun weekend filled with beautiful views, great food and spending time with people we love. In this collection, I’m sharing some of the items I’m packing (as well as items I wish I was packing) for Memorial Day Weekend.

Of course we should start off with a swimsuit. I’ve actually found quite a few at J.CREW that I’m hoping to pick up this year but my favorite is this gingham one-piece. It combines many elements I love- a scalloped neckline, gingham and a fresh and pretty blue hue. Then to cover it up, I have my eyes on this tiered maxi dress. I like coverups that are multifunctional like the maxi which can we worn over swimwear or on its own for a stroll around town. And while discussing dresses, I like to bring one or two nice dresses like this one in case Brian and I are able to grab a lunch or dinner in town. On to bags- I usually bring a small clutch to throw my some cash in case Brian and I are able to go out for that date but, of course, also a roomy tote for the beach. When you’re beaching it with small kids there are a lot of items that get thrown in that beach bag but I will definitely be packing a tasseled beach towel and my absolute favorite oversized sunglasses. There is usually plenty of body sunscreen out there but I’m always sure to take my favorite face sunscreen, this facial moisture spray with aloe to rehydrate my face when on the beach and this tinted SPF lip lip balm that leaves my lips insanely soft (my favorite is the Sheer Rosy Tint). Finally, I will also take along some neutral leather slides as well as a perfect Hamptons straw hat.
