Nestled within wine country on the beautiful North Fork of Long Island is a sea of gold sunflowers on the acreage of Sidor Farms in Mattituck. We actually rounded back up the North Fork after unpacking and spending the night in Southampton. I had seen pictures of these majestic blooms online and Brian agreed the 45 minute drive would be well worth seeing the kids prance around in a floral dreamland.
It is impossible to spend time in these fields and not leave them happy. They create the most beautiful backdrop and the beautiful golden hues seem to go on forever. As soon as we arrived, Bennett, true to form, kicked off his shoes and just wanted to run around and explore. He loves color and can organize his crayons or watch changing colorful lights for an insane amount of time. He really got a kick out of the endless space to run and the big bold flowers that surrounded him.
Austyn, on the other hand, stayed close to me at first. She wanted to be picked up so she could better investigate these strange new florals. Afterwards she wanted to play in the dirt and we let her spend time digging, exploring and getting messy. When we returned to Southampton they rinsed off in the Peconic Bay.
I bought my dress for our Labor Day Weekend on sale knowing I would wear it through the Fall with a cardigan and some white Chucks or booties. I’m usually an x-small at GAP but sized up since I wanted the dress to be extra drapey and flowy. Austyn’s sweet dress is also from GAP and on sale.
