A few Sundays ago my little family and I took the short drive to Stow, Massachusetts to pick some apples at Honey Pot Hill Orchards. Apple picking has become one of my favorite fall family traditions since moving to New England, and it is a day I look forward to every year. This year we hit the harvest just right and brought home an enormous variety of delicious apples. I’ve been using the apples in a number of dinner and pastry recipes, which I can’t wait to share with you guys!
Last year when we went apple picking Bennett was a pretty sedentary baby, so we just put him under one of the shady apple trees while Brian and I alternated snapping cute photos of him and picking apples. This year was not quite as tranquil since Bennett just wanted to run around and gather as many apples as he could as he tried to sneak bites of the unwashed fruit. Although our trip to the orchard this year was slightly more chaotic, we had the best day picking delicious apples as a family and then picking up some delicious farm fresh provisions at the farm’s store.
Another aspect of fall I always look forward to is bringing back plaid flannel shirts. Since I can actually enjoy a true fall season up here in Massachusetts I have really grown my flannel collection. I love when I have an opportunity to somewhat match with Bennett, so I put him in one of my favorite plaid shirts he has as well. Babies in fall plaid are so adorable!
My skirt is from Madewell, and I have been wearing it quite a bit this fall. I love its versatility since I have been able to wear it with everything from a blazer (did you catch this post) to a comfy sweater and, on this day, a button-down flannel.
I hope you guys are out there having the most amazing fall adventures with your families! You can shop our looks from this post below!
