One of the many things I love about living in New England is having so many charming places to day trip. This past weekend we chose to head 35 miles north of the city to Newburyport, MA. It was our first time visiting the North Shore, and although I have heard and read great things about Newburyport, its waterfront beauty was even better than I imagined.
Bennett had a swim lesson in the morning, so we headed out in the afternoon. We started our adventure with brunch at The Poynt, which was recommended to me by Elizabeth, the writer / photographer of the amazing New England lifestyle blog, Newburyport Daytripper. Brunch at The Poynt was so amazing that Brian and I discussed making the trip again soon just to eat there again! We were both blown away by our food, and their beer and cocktail list was fantastic as well! And something must be in the Newburyport air because Bennett was the most gentlemanly little diner, and we all enjoyed a delicious, peaceful brunch.
I know I’ve mentioned once or twice that jeans, a sweater and riding boots were my Fall uniform (were you able to see this post from last week?). This is especially true if I know the majority of my day will be spent walking around.
I know I can always count on Banana Republic for the classics. I was drawn to this sweater by its beautiful Seafoam color, and it ended up keeping me nice and cozy against the crisp Fall sea breeze.
One of my favorite ways to accessorize a casual Fall outfit is by tying a square scarf around my neck. It is such an easy, effortless way to add a little sophistication to a casual sweater.
We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around downtown Newburyport checking out the local boutiques and grabbing coffee at Commune (where I had the best pumpkin spice chai I have ever had). Newburyport is an incredibly beautiful coastal New England town that quite literally resembles a postcard.
I can’t wait to explore more coastal Massachusetts towns (especially along the North Shore)! We also haven’t been to Maine and have that on the books for next summer! I wonder where we will day trip next?!
