Crock Pot Mulled Wine (8 servings)
Ingredients:
1 bottle of fruity red wine (like Sangiovese)
3 cups apple cider
Juice of 4 clementines
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
3 cinnamon sticks (plus more for garnish)
4 whole star anise
1/2 vanilla bean cut down the middle
1 tsp whole cloves
3 whole cardamom pods
1 whole nutmeg
2 rosemary sprigs (plus more for garnish)
(Cheese cloth + kitchen string to create spice bag)
Instructions:
1. Add water and sugar to crock pot on high setting. Stir until sugar dissolves then set crock pot to low.
2. Add wine, apple cider, clementine juice and stir.
3. Create spice bag with cinnamon sticks, star anise, vanilla bean cloves, cardamom pods, nutmeg and rosemary sprigs and add to pot.
4. Allow to cook up to 4 hours on the low setting then switch to “keep warm” prior to serving.
5. Garnish with whatever makes you happy- cinnamon sticks, clementine peel, star anise, rosemary! You can also add brandy to each glass if you’d like!
